Would sharing our pain stop war? Would you understand those around you better if you knew the pain that a person is going through?
This is the premise of Kiznaiver. The series is about a group of high school teens in the fictional city of Sugomori City. Here is where an experiment to create an understanding of human beings takes place. The Kiznaiver system is a system where individuals are made to feel each other’s pain as it is evenly distributed. So imagine that horrible stub toe moment being felt by all of your friends or that paper cut. That may seem small but in the series this is taken thru numerous different scenarios. The characters, one of which is Agato Katsuhira who has no sensation of pain, are placed in this system that is supposed to eventually and hopefully alleviate wars. Those that feel the pain and are a part of the system are Kiznaivers. Stating that if we all understood each other’s pain then we would all know where each other comes from and hopefully we would come to an understanding. The series is brought to us by some who brought us Rage of Bahamut and one of the episode directors of Kill La Kll. I’m just starting to get into the series as of this writing episode 7 has just been released and I’m binge watching from episode 4. Hopefully on the next podcast episode I’ll have a more conclusive thought. The series is supposed to run 12 episodes, so it is one of the shorter series of this season. I’d say give it a watch if you want something scifi but also something with a deeper meaning. It’s produced by Trigger(Kill La Kill, Little Witch Academia, and Black Dynamite) and by Aniplex (Fullmetal Alchemist, Persona 4, Bleach, and Guilty Crown) it is currently being streamed on Crunchyroll. Check out the episodes and let me know what you think. I’m intrigued but I’ll hold my opinion til the end. Hey, guess I’ll keep sharing the pain with all of you.
